The countdown to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics has begun as the Olympic flag arrived in Los Angeles, marking the start of preparations for the Games. Mayor Karen Bass waved the flag aboard a jet painted in Olympic colors, accompanied by athletes and officials.
The BBC spoke to California Governor Gavin Newsom and gold medalist Amit Ellore about California’s most recent bid to host the Olympics.
The flag will remain flying at Los Angeles City Hall until the 2028 Olympics.
