A 50-meter-high steel tower erected in the field will serve as the fulcrum for Mqaba’s fireworks display synchronized to music tonight.
Fireworks launched from the steel structure will paint beautiful light patterns in the night sky accompanied by music.
The Tower of Light is part of a fireworks extravaganza organized by the St. Mary Fireworks Factory on the eve of Santa Maria Day in the village of 3,000 inhabitants. Mqaba has a 120-year tradition of fireworks production and innovation.
Organizers said 12,000 fireworks will be set off throughout the festival, which will also include traditional aerial displays. The first part of the festival, called Pyro Thunder Extreme, will feature fireworks synchronized to music (beraq). A mechanized ground-based fireworks display will close the festival.
The fireworks extravaganza kicks off at 9:30pm in the fields along the Mqaba bypass, known as Triq il-Konvoj ta’ Santa Marija.
After leaving the Airport Tunnel, Mqabba can be reached from the Kirkop side, from Qormi through Ħal Farruġ, or from Siġġiewi through Ta’ Kandja.
