Research article on hurricane impacts on Florida’s Rocky Reef selected as highlight article in Marine Science magazine

Understanding event-driven sediment transport in coral reef environments is critical for assessing impacts on coral reef species, habitats, restoration, and mitigation, but gaps in global knowledge remain due to limited quantitative studies. On September 10, 2017, Hurricane Irma made landfall in the Florida Keys with sustained winds of 209 km/h and waves exceeding 8 meters, directly affecting the Florida Keys.
