Tragedy in Zugdidi – a fire in a residential building claimed the lives of young twins. The six-year-olds were at home with their siblings. The fire broke out unexpectedly in the house while the teenagers were sleeping. Two of them managed to escape, two did not.
According to locals, the children lived with their mother, but the mother was not at home when the accident happened. The family is in a socially vulnerable position.
The fire department and police have arrived at the scene. The Ministry of the Interior has launched an investigation into the incident under Section 188 (causing damage or destruction of an object by negligence).
Two children who managed to escape the burning apartment were taken to a clinic. Their lives are not in danger.
The children’s parents answered investigators’ questions overnight.
