The 18-year-old suspect, armed with a long knife, filmed his attack in the mosque’s tea garden and live-streamed it on X before he was subdued by police and taken into preventive custody.
Based on the images broadcast by X, some media talked about seven injured people, one of whom was lying on the ground.
“The attacker was dressed as a game character, with an axe on his waist, a bulletproof vest, a helmet and a mask on his face,” the Eskişehir Durum website reported.
His own photos, which he took, showed the attacker wearing protective glasses over his mask, completely obscuring his face.
Multiple websites reported that the young man was wearing a “black sun” on his chest, a Nazi symbol made up of three swastikas.
The attacker did not shout or claim responsibility for the attack, saying he was “influenced by war games,” Cumhuriyet daily reported.
