Gozo Planning Minister Clint Camilleri has announced that applications have begun for Gozo athletes to compete in the 2025 Island Games. Athletes will have the full support of the Gozo Games Association.
“We achieved good results for the first time in these competitions, following which the Ministry began preparing another team of athletes to represent Gozo in the competitions in Orkney, Scotland, next July,” Minister Camilleri said.
He added, “The Gozo team will do everything in their power to succeed once again in Orkney. The application process has been launched today and will ensure that the best people are selected,” Minister Camilleri said.
In 2023, Gozo won four medals, a silver in athletics, a gold, a silver and a bronze in shooting. However, the minister said that since there will be no shooting event at the 2025 Olympics, Gozo shooters will not be able to participate.
Interested Athletes Must apply online No later than September 6.
The ministry said a specially-formed selection committee would analyse each application and confirm that the selected applicants met the established criteria. “This ensures an open and transparent process.”
