Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness has issued a warning to gang leaders across Jamaica that security forces will be relentless in their pursuit of them following a mass shooting in Clarendon on Sunday that left eight people dead.

“Every gang leader should learn to control themselves,” Holness said at a news conference Monday morning.

He also confirmed that criminal players and incarcerated people from overseas were behind the massacre.

He called it an act of terror and said the killings were an attack on every Jamaican and every community.

“We know that people overseas are involved in this. We know that people who are currently incarcerated are involved in this. We know that multiple gangs are involved in this,” Holness said.

He added: “Every gang, every person who assisted in any way, provided weapons or participated in this and personally pulled the trigger, we will find you… We will not treat this as another criminal act, we will treat this as an act of terror.”
