The team has now established ElequaNova Limited, hoping to build a good reputation through demonstration projects with the Drainage Services Department and the Environmental Protection Department. Taking LEEO technology as an example, the sewage treatment plant in Siu Ho Wan is currently testing sludge treatment capacity of about 100 tons per day, accounting for about one-seventh of the total treatment capacity.
When it comes to commercializing technology to generate revenue, in order to ensure the team’s continued operation, Chen Guanghao pointed out that “HKS Water Innovation” is still in its infancy and has no profitable projects yet. He admitted that making money is not the primary goal, but when the technology develops to a certain level, balancing income and expenditure is “something that will happen naturally later.”
Inspiration from Hong Kong applies globally

Guan Dao said that the laboratory can tailor-make corresponding solutions to meet the sewage treatment needs of enterprises, which is also one of the team’s commercialization routes.
Chen Guanghao boasted in an interview that LEEO technology “has no competitors in the world.” Why was the team able to be so sensitive and take the lead? Director Guan explained that Hong Kong uses seawater to flush toilets, which makes the sludge very easy to produce odor. Because this problem is most prominent in Hong Kong, the team discovered the pain point and solved the problem.
Since the technology is designed for Hong Kong, how can it be further promoted? Director Guan emphasized that although this problem is a “Hong Kong characteristic”, it is not unique to Hong Kong. Director Guan believes that with global warming and rising sea levels, all coastal cities will have the opportunity to encounter seawater backflow in the future. Once salt-containing substances enter the groundwater system, the current situation in Hong Kong will become a global problem.
Guan continued that electrochemical technology must be further upgraded in commercialization. The team will continue to improve existing equipment and expand its application areas, such as medical, semiconductor, solar energy and other industrial wastewater, which are all key areas of focus for the company.
