Sheikh Abdullah Muhammad Nama explained in his Friday sermon, which he preached at the Mosque of Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab, that Almighty Allah has established for His servants the virtues of seasons and times of obedience, which are part of the mercy of Almighty Allah, those who obtain spoils of good deeds, promotion of status, atonement of sins and forgiveness of evil deeds for believers, and these seasons and times will come to servants, unless they are followed by the grace and generosity of God. A time similar to it or greater than it, we, the servants of God, have been given these sacred ten days, which are the ten days that God has sworn in the Book for the purpose of explaining its virtues. Therefore, glory be to him, Ibn Kathir said: “May God have mercy on him” (which means the ten days of Duar-Hijjah), to which Almighty Allah said, “So that they may bear witness to their benefits and mention the holy name of the cattle that Allah has provided for them on the known days, and may Allah be pleased with them”. “On the known days”, that is, the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah.

Khatib said that the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the greatest days in the eyes of God and the most valuable days of Bazar and others according to the authority of Jaber, may God be pleased with him according to the authority of Jaber. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are the best days in the world”, meaning: the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, and on these days are the days of Arafat, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said in the authentic hadith narrated by Muslim: “Fasting on the day of Arafat, hoping that Allah will atone for the sins of the previous year and the next year.” And these ten days are the days of Arafat. Allah the Almighty called this day the greatest day of Hajj, may Allah pray and bless him, and said about it: “The greatest day in the eyes of Allah is the day of Hajj. Sacrifice, then the Day of Sacrifice.” It was narrated by Abu Dawud in a authentic chain of transmission that the Day of Sacrifice is Eid al-Fitr, and the Day of Sacrifice is the day when the pilgrims settle in Mina, which is the eleventh day. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, may God have mercy on him, said: “The first ten days of Dur-Hija are privileged because of the gathering of the basics of worship, which are prayer, fasting, charity and Hajj, which do not take place at any other time.”

Sheikh Nama mentioned that these ten days are the best days of the year for virtue and status, better than the last ten days of Ramadan, although they contain virtue and blessings, so scholars, Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and others believe that the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are better than the general days of the year, and the last ten nights of Ramadan are the best nights, and in the two Hadiths and the Hadith, there are similar words in the Hadith of Ibn Abbas in Sunan, may Allah be pleased with them, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no day more loved by Allah for righteous deeds than these days.” Ten days (meaning the ten days of Ramadan) they said: O Messenger of Allah, not even for Jihad, he said: Not even for Jihad, except for Allah. One who goes out with his life and money and does not bring back anything.

He added: The righteous predecessors used to mark these days with good deeds and try to do them. There are many good deeds that are legal during these ten days. Every thing that brings you closer to God should be done quickly and with effort. Perform it, such as reciting the Quran, remembering, seeking forgiveness, praying for relatives, being kind to parents, alleviating suffering, meeting people’s needs, giving alms to the poor and needy, and being merciful to all servants of Allah. All of this, perform voluntary prayers, do not harm others, and prevent the tongue from slander and gossip. The most welcome thing in this season is to sincerely repent of all sins and wrongdoings and resolve to do good for a believer. His intentions are better than his deeds.

Shaykh Abdullah Nama noted that one of the good and lawful actions of these ten days is fasting on the first nine days, as Nawawi and other Hadith scholars narrated in Abu Dawood and Ahmad, and strongly recommended to do so. There is a chain of authentic transmission based on the authority of some of the wives of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: “He used to fast for nine Dulhijas”, and it has been confirmed that anyone can fast on the day of Arafah except for Hajj, while fasting on the days of Eid al-Fitr and Tashriq is absolutely prohibited.

Al-Khatib states that according to the narration of Al-Tabarani, now from the beginning of the new month of Dhul-Hijjah to the end of Tashreeq, it is prescribed to recite a lot of takbir, tahlil and praises. Ahmad narrated from the hadith of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them and peace and prayers of Allah be upon him, that the Prophet said: “There is no day when I do not like to work for Allah more than the days when Allah is with me.” From these ten days, increase their praise, praise, praise and takbir. “Ibn Umar and Abu Hurayra used to go to the market on these ten days and say “Allah is great”, and people would say “takbeer on these days is absolute and restricted, so absolute takbeer is prescribed all the time from Dhul-Hijjah to the last days of Tashreeq. The Great Taqbir is the closing time of the obligatory prayers from the morning prayer on the day of Arafat to the noon prayer on the last days of Tashriq, and all this is justified by the consensus of the scholars and the actions of the government. Brothers, may God be pleased with them.

Muslims should use these days to get closer to Almighty God through obedience and good deeds, “and this is the one who respects the rituals of God, for they come from piety in the heart.”
