US-backed SDF bombs Syrian army positions in Deir ez-Zor province

At dawn today, fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces, known as the SDF, bombarded locations and positions belonging to the Syrian army in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor with mortars and artillery shells.
SDF fighters also targeted the villages and towns of Subichan, Buliel and Muhassan with mortars and artillery shells, and the town of Bukars with armed drones, while SDF snipers targeted any activity across the Euphrates River, resulting in civilians being wounded by bullets.
Yesterday, a car carrying Syrian troops was attacked by a drone on the way to the city of Albu Kamal in the Deir ez-Zor countryside in eastern Syria, killing six members supporting the Syrian army and injuring 11 others.
The SDF escalation comes in parallel with the siege of the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli, as part of ongoing tensions between it and tribal forces in Deir ez-Zor.

“The government side considers the tribal movement against the SDF as caused by the latter’s targeting of them and as a popular movement that expresses the tribes’ rejection of the existing reality in the region,” the source told Al-Mayadeen.
The source believes that “the SDF hopes to use the city centers of Hasakah and Qamishli, which are under government control, as a card to stop tribal attacks and put pressure on the government to prevent Syria from reconciling with Turkey”, suggesting that “the United States may be behind the actions taken by the SDF, which use inhumane methods to gain political and territorial gains. “
Since last Wednesday, SDF forces have been besieging the city centers of Hasakah and Qamishli, which are under the control of the Syrian army, blocking the entry of water tanks, fuel, flour, food and medicine, in addition to preventing civilians from entering and leaving the area.
After the militants of the “Tribes and Army” launched a violent attack on their headquarters in the eastern and western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the “SDF” laid siege, holding some of them for several hours, while seizing weapons and ammunition and detaining about 45 of their members, including two leaders.
