Cosima Marriner was appointed Australian Financial Review As part of an ongoing overhaul of the newspaper’s editorial leadership.

Marriner succeeds Fiona Buffini, who held the position for about 18 months and has been with the company for 25 years.
Marina is Financial Reviewand previously worked at Sydney Morning Herald He has held several senior editorial positions, including deputy editor.
“I’m honoured to have had the opportunity to edit Australia’s best masthead and lead the most talented newsroom in this country,” Marriner said. “I look forward to building on the outstanding legacy and hard work of Stutch (former editor-in-chief Michael Stutchbury) and Fiona, and working closely with James to make the Financial Review Achieve greater success.”

In a letter to staff Monday afternoon, Chesser said Baffini would continue to lead the paper’s digital transformation and take on a key new role in the new year.
“She (Buffini) leads the newsroom with professionalism, calm and expertise. I know we are all looking forward to seeing what she does next,” Chesser said.
