JAKARTA (ANTARA) – Mahmoud Habash, advisor to the president of the Palestinian Religious Affairs Agency and the highest Sharia judge of the Palestinian Authority, said that Indonesia always supports Palestinian independence.
“During this visit, I concluded that Indonesia’s position on the Palestinian struggle and issues is consistent,” Mahmoud Habash said at the Senayan Parliament House in Jakarta on Friday.
The message was delivered after Habash and other Palestinian representatives, accompanied by several executives of the Palestinian National Union (PBNU), met with the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Bambang Soesatyo.
“I reiterate that Indonesia’s position is consistent, and the remarks we heard earlier from the Chairman of the National People’s Congress further confirm and make us believe that Indonesia’s position is consistent and unchanged,” he commented.

He said the Indonesian government and people have consistently supported Palestine’s struggle for independence.
“This further reinforces our impression that there has been no change in Indonesian support at all levels of government, parliament or society,” he noted.
He also believes that Indonesia will continue to consistently support Palestine until it achieves independence.
He stressed: “I believe that Indonesia’s support for the Palestinian struggle and independence will continue in the future, supporting the Palestinian people in all their efforts to uphold justice for their independence.”
