The players of the Ratu Navura Academy Under-18 team were so confident on Saturday as parents travelled from as far as the west to cheer on the team, leaving spectators at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium in a sea of blue.
Parents Association president Taniela Vocevoce said supporters turned out in large numbers to cheer the team when it faced Mahatma Gandhi in the quarter-final of the Vodafone Super Deans Tournament.
“We’re looking forward to playing today (Saturday), we’ve been preparing for a long time,” Vossworth said.
“I believe representatives from every village in Nandi are here today to support these boys and residents from all 14 Nandi provinces.
Some parents came all the way from Taveuni to watch their sons compete.
“We are very grateful to our parents who have come from other parts of Fiji and also to our old scholars,” he said.
“When we started the match today, we were already confident that we could win the national quarter-final,” he added.
Vocevoce said the attendance for next week’s semi-finals will be huge.
“We are looking forward to next week’s game. We believe that game will bring us some benefits.
“The Dean’s Cup is not new to us, we have won this award in the past and we are working hard to win this honor again.”
Vocevoce thanks all the traditional pillars of Nadi Vanua for their support and blessings.
