The International Atomic Energy Agency announced on Sunday that a fire at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine does not appear to pose a threat to the safety or nuclear security of the facility.

The fire broke out in a cooling tower at the Zaporizhia power plant in southern Ukraine, which is controlled by Russian troops.
“The Ukrainian armed forces bombarded the town of Engodar, which caused a fire in the cooling system,” said Yevgeny Paletsky, the Moscow-appointed governor of the Zaporizhia region.
Both Paretzky and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that no changes in radiation levels had been detected near the plant, while Zelensky accused Russian forces of arson.
