Abaco Island | The search for the missing aircraft and pilot in Marsh Harbour, Abaco Island, ended Thursday, August 8, 2024, thanks to the efforts of police and community members.
The Bahamas News Agency has more coverage on the disappearance of a plane with a lone pilot aboard.
We can now confirm that at around midday police received reports of possible aircraft wreckage approximately five (5) miles from Marsh Harbour Airport.
Upon receiving the information, police officers and community volunteers quickly rushed to the scene, where they found the wreckage of the plane and the body of a white man, believed to be the only pilot and passenger on the plane. The pilot left Sebastian Municipal Airport last weekend and was headed for Abaco Island.
Death is the pilot Christopher MooreThe 59-year-old, a retired engineer and business owner from Louisville, Kentucky, was flying to the Bahamas, where he owns a property in Little Harbor.
Moore’s body was taken to a local morgue where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
Staff from the Bahamas Civil Aviation Authority will conduct further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, along with their international counterpart, the National Transportation Safety Authority (NTSA).
The Bahamas News Agency expressed its deepest condolences to his wife and two children on the passing of her husband.
