In the investigation into the murder of 11-year-old Firdaus, the police arrested a new suspect on Friday. The case concerns 28-year-old taxi driver JB from Rumst. He may have collected the weapon used by Daniëlle R. (53) from Putt, who was arrested earlier.
The Antwerp Federal Judicial Police launched a new search on Friday in the murder case of 11-year-old Firdas. The girl was shot dead in January 2023 when unknown persons opened fire with a war weapon through the garage door of her parents’ house in Merksem. Her father and sisters, aged 13 and 18, were injured.
Police found the DNA of Danielle R. of Putt on a shell casing found in Merksem. The 53-year-old woman was already known to police, having been arrested previously when a large number of weapons were found in her home. The criminal organization may have used the building as a warehouse. She was arrested and jailed in February.

On Friday, police carried out several searches at the homes of acquaintances of Daniëlle R. “A 28-year-old man from Rumst has also been arrested,” said Kristof Aerts, spokesman for the Antwerp prosecutor’s office. “In the context of the ongoing judicial investigation, he could be the person who collected the weapons from the 53-year-old woman in Put. He could have acted as a middleman in this role.”
JB must appear before an investigating judge on Saturday. He decided to arrest the taxi driver on suspicion of murdering 11-year-old Firdous and the attempted triple murder of her family. B. was arrested and imprisoned.
