At around 9 am on November 29, a fire broke out in a house on Bui Ngoc Duong Street, Bai Mai District, 2 Triomphe District, Hanoi.
According to this, at that time, people saw a gas truck BKS 29H – 001.xx delivering gas to a gas store on the street. A few minutes later, the gas truck suddenly caught fire and burned fiercely. The fire quickly spread to the surrounding yards. After receiving the news, the fire department mobilized several fire trucks to put out the fire and blocked Bui Ngoc Duong Street.
At 9:45 a.m., the truck was still burning fiercely. The house next to the gas truck was engulfed in flames. The frames of some motorcycles parked on the street were also burned.
After discovering the fire, many people shouted to each other to escape.
Ms. Le Nguyet Anh, who lives in one of the houses affected by the fire, said that at around 9:00 a.m., she heard someone shouting that there was a fire and she immediately ran outside to call people and relatives to escape.
“At this point, the fire was very big and there were many loud explosions like bombs. Everyone was panicking and running outside, shouting at each other. I also immediately helped my mother escape from the burning house,” said Ms Anh.
According to Ms. Anh, about 10 minutes after the fire broke out, relevant departments arrived at the scene to spray water to extinguish the fire and cordoned off the fire scene.
Le Thanh Vinh, chairman of the People’s Committee of Bach Mai Precinct, said that as of 10 a.m. that day, the fire had been put out. Initially, authorities determined that a gas leak caused the fire to explode and spread to surrounding houses. Fortunately, the fire did not cause any casualties. After the fire, many items in people’s homes were burned. Currently, authorities are assessing the losses and investigating the cause of the incident.
