A three-year-old boy died after falling into a swimming pool at a residence in Triq il-Kortoll, in the town of Xala, Gozo, on Saturday afternoon.
Police said the incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. when the boy fell into the swimming pool and became distressed.
Police were the first to arrive at the scene, followed by a medical team who immediately provided assistance. The child was taken to Gozo General Hospital where he died a short time later.
It is understood that Magistrate Brigitte Sultana is leading an investigation.
Police are still investigating.
