Six years after “Angel”, Luis Ortega returns to cinemas with “El Jockey”. The announcement of its premiere in Argentina on September 26 was accompanied by two announcements. On the one hand, the new film will have its world premiere in the Official Competition of the Venice Film Festival, which will be held from August 28 to September 7. “Presenting “El Jockey” in the Official Competition of Venice is the most wonderful premiere that our film could have,” said Luis Ortega. “All my heroes passed through there.” He is joined by Nahuel Pérez Biscayart, the actor of El jockey: “To have such a powerful experience shooting with Luis Ortega to be screened at a festival as historic as this one fills me with joy and makes me suspect that something cosmic, something profoundly human is pulsating in our film.” “To be able to be part of a project by Luis Ortega is already a dream come true,” says Ursula Corberó, another of the protagonists. “What I didn’t expect was that the first time I would screen a film at a festival would be in Competition at Venice. “I’m on cloud nine, I’m so excited.”
On the other hand, El jockey was announced as one of the events confirmed to take place at Horizontes latinos, one of the featured sections of the San Sebastian Festival. In turn, it will also appear at the Toronto Festival.
Story. This new film from Luis Ortega tells the story of Remo Manfredini, a turf legend whose talent begins to be overshadowed by his erratic and self-destructive behavior. Abril, a jockey and Remo’s partner, is about to get pregnant and must decide whether to continue with the pregnancy or keep running. They both race horses for Serena, a businesswoman obsessed with jockeys. One day, Remo suffers an accident and disappears from the hospital, wandering the city streets unidentified. Serena hopes he is dead or alive, while April tries to find him before it’s too late.

The Jockey is a co-production between Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Denmark and the United States, and in addition to Nahuel Pérez Vizcayate and Úrsula Corberó, the cast also includes Mexican actors Daniel Jiménez Cacho, Daniel Fanego, Osmar Núñez, Roberto Carnaghi, Luis Cibrowski, Jorge Prado, Adriana Aguirre, Rolly Serrano and Chilean actress Mariana Di Girolamo.
