Some farmers and breeders, especially those participating in the 17th Agricultural Expo, said the mini agricultural expo will help them increase their knowledge and better prepare for the Agricultural Expo to become an annual event where farmers and breeders come together.
As one of the exhibitors at this year’s Agrishow, agricultural research and marketing expert Violette Niyigena said the agriculture and livestock exhibition was a great platform for them to meet and learn from each other.
“If mini-agricultural shows existed, farmers and breeders would have a long time to learn something,” he said. “As someone who wants to learn, maybe likes rabbit breeding, potato or finger planting, and attends enough classes, or wants to invest in agricultural fields and a certain type of plant, there will be enough time to see these things.”

Dan Hakizimana, director of the Agricultural and Livestock Services Demonstration Centre in Gazibo District, said the mini agricultural exhibition, if it existed, would help those working in the field learn more about agriculture and livestock.
“If better information about agriculture and farming reaches as many people as possible, and new technology reaches as many people as possible, then production will increase, so that alone is not enough,” he said.
At the end of this year’s Agrishow, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Idevons Musafiri, praised the level achieved by the Rwandan agriculture and livestock sector, but even what the people in the sector wanted failed because everything was theirs.
He said: “If this event lasts for 10 days, it is not enough for you to learn the important things you should learn. Those who want, we will give them enough time and other things they ask for, all of which are your rights.”
Minister Dr Musafiri said while 10 days was enough time for a person to learn what he needed, they would do what people in the agriculture and breeding sector wanted to do, which was to hold a mini agriculture show.
This year’s agricultural show featured many innovations, such as the display of bait cattle, which was popular with many participants, and the display of a 500-pound pig that was taken from someone else’s egg.
The agricultural and animal husbandry exhibition is now in its 17th year and has attracted more than 420 participants over the past 10 days, showcasing various agricultural and animal husbandry activities, with more than 4,000 visitors per day.
