China Zhenhua Trading interested in onshore oil blocks

Libreville, Saturday, August 10, 2024 (Gabon News) – This was the meaning of the interview that Gabon’s Minister of Oil and Gas, Marcel Abeké, had with a delegation of the oil group last Thursday, August 8. Led by Vice President Xu Hongyu, the Chinese company is interested in onshore production in the Gabonese sedimentary basin.

Gabon’s oil industry is about to see a major development as China takes the offensive. China Zhenhua Trading, the fourth largest oil operator in China, has more than two decades of rich experience that it wants to share with Gabon. The group has state-of-the-art facilities and highly qualified personnel around the world, especially in Iraq.

The Gabonese Ministry of Oil and Gas explained that the company is interested in the Gabonese sedimentary basin, particularly onshore blocks. To realize its projects, the multinational is willing to finance both upstream and downstream oil activities.

China Zhenhua Trading hopes to develop sustainably in Gabon and participate in increasing oil production. In the next few days, it will send a technical team to hold in-depth discussions with the Gabonese side.

In discussions with members of the Gabonese government, Xu Hongyu and his team expressed their readiness to support local businesses within the framework of win-win cooperation.

Note that the Chinese delegation was also received that day by the Minister of Economy and Participation, Mays Mouissi, with whom they held a working meeting, mainly to discuss the development of the Gabonese oil sector based on Chinese expertise.
