Mexico City (apro) – Xóchitl Gálvez, former presidential candidate of the Mexican Power and Love coalition, has accused the judges of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF) of seeking to protect President Andrés Manuel López Obrador by pretending to dismiss his lawsuit against the President for alleged interference in the last electoral process.
The National Action Party member, who was defeated by Morenstadt’s Claudia Sheinbaum by 30 percentage points in the presidential election, claims that the president’s interventions, which were endorsed by a court ruling, did infringe her right to vote in the last election.
“What the servants see is the opinion of some judges of the court who, instead of considering this election to be the most unequal in recent years, prefer to look good in the eyes of the tenants of the Palace,” said the senator.
Galvez Ruiz regretted not being able to meet with the six judges as promised. Only President Monica Sotto and Judge Reyes Rodríguez Mondragon received it, respectively. Judge Jeanine Otalora could not meet her “for health reasons.”
“To them, I no longer exist,” the former presidential candidate complained.
PAN members defended her claim:
“I did not ask for revocation. I asked what happened, now that it has been proven to be the most transparent election in history, won’t there be any stain on the Tigers? Because they were operating from the Palace,” he charged.
He clarified that he was not questioning Sheinbaum’s victory but President López Obrador’s interference in the election.
To this end, he criticized the TEPJF High Court’s decision to conduct a new review at 36 am to determine whether there were electoral irregularities committed by the president and then rule it expired as it was not resolved within the prescribed period.
“The project does not correspond to reality, the presidential elections have not yet been completed, and there is government interference. Blatant use of social programs and misappropriation of resources,” accused Gálvez Ruiz.
Furthermore, he stressed that the electoral qualifications must also include the issue of gender-based political violence perpetrated against him by the President, as determined by the TEPJF Special Court.
“What happened in the election was not reflected. Of course the president interfered, the vote was coerced, and I was violated.”
“Political violence is gender-based and must be recorded in the opinion. Some say the JDC (Protection of Civil Rights Judgement) is not a mechanism because I did not ask for its revocation, which is wrong. It was to protect my rights and I am a presidential candidate,” she stressed.
He also criticized the high court for not completing its plenary session and for holding up the appointment of the two remaining magistrates at the request of President López Obrador.
