The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad is working to promote this process by organizing a two-day National Forum on Tunisian Skills Abroad on August 6-7, 2024. More than 250 participants from different backgrounds (especially Japan, the United States and Europe) will participate in this exercise and propose concrete actions in the presence of Tunisian ambassadors abroad. “It is a question,” said Minister Nabil Ammar at the opening ceremony, “of promoting effective networking, establishing channels of dialogue between Tunisians abroad and with the Tunisian authorities, developing appropriate formats for their actions” and deciding on the format and frequency of the meetings. »

The Governor of the BCT announced that after the new foreign exchange regulation is issued, a roadshow is planned in many countries to present and explain its new advantages especially for Tunisians abroad. “According to the census conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, there are 1.8 million Tunisians living abroad, of which 50% are active workers composed of technicians, managers and freelancers, he will point out that TRE transfers will reach nearly 9 billion dinars by the end of 2023, with an increase of 5.4% and a share of 5.6% of GDP. This momentum continues in the first half of 2024, with transfers amounting to 4.3 billion dinars. »
The Minister of Finance invited Tunisians abroad to make better use of the multiple opportunities offered, to contribute to Tunisia’s efforts to enhance the country’s image and business climate, as well as investments, especially in high value-added sectors. She particularly stressed the importance of deposits and subscribing to state loans, while sharing expertise and knowledge acquired in different fields. Ms. Boughdiri Nemsia called for a stronger presence of Tunisian skills in high-level regional and international institutions.
Amine Aloulou, president of ATUGE, stressed the need to move away from emotional discourse and adopt a rational relationship while building strong ties with Tunisia. He called for a thorough review of the entire approach taken so far in relations with Tunisians abroad. For him, it is very important to encourage the reverse flow of Tunisians settled abroad to return to their country of origin. This process should be promoted and supported. “Everything is based on trust. Everyone must have confidence in Tunisia and the future,” he concluded.
The work of the working groups will begin on the first day of the Forum and continue.
