Mongolian Prime Minister Sitiweni Rabuka will pay a 10-day official visit to China starting on Monday.

This will be his first visit to China since taking office in December 2022.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said in a statement that during the visit, the two leaders will have an in-depth exchange of views on major issues of common concern.

China has received a number of Pacific Island leaders this year, and Rabuka is another Pacific Island leader who will visit China. Mao said this reflects the close relationship between China and the South Pacific region.

Mao said: “China hopes to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level and work with Fiji to build a closer China-Pacific island countries community with a shared future.”

Fiji is the first Pacific island country to establish diplomatic relations with China.
