Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced that MP Randolph Debattista will serve as Malta’s ambassador to Geneva.
“Everyone has a role to play and anyone who can contribute to the country will be used,” he told media outside Labour headquarters on Friday night. “My job is to unite people, not alienate them.”
Abela was answering questions from journalists after party delegates at a special congress voted “strongly” in favour of amending the party constitution to allow members of parliament to run for the post of party vice-chairman.

“For a political party to remain relevant it has to be a catalyst for change from within, and that’s the strong message we’re sending,” he said. “The biggest mistake you can make is to resist that change.”
