Digital Transformation – Let’s Take Action. This is the theme chosen by the Caribbean Trade Union to highlight the achievements of digital transformation in the Caribbean region. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Caribbean Trade Union, the union will use immersive technology experiences to demonstrate the speed, efficiency, transparency, resilience, capacity and simplicity of comprehensive digital life in the Caribbean region. This was revealed by the Secretary General of the Caribbean Trade Union, Bernadette Lewis, at a joint press conference held at the Ministry of Public Administration.
To bring the theme to life, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean Technology Alliance Secretariat and its technology partners will create a single ICT space for the future digital Caribbean called Caribbean Futurescape, where delegates will experience information and communications technologies (ICT) in real life, understanding how Caribbean life can be transformed when technology is applied correctly. Caribbean Futurescape is a technology immersive event, the first of its kind to be held in the Caribbean, and will take place from April 29 to May 1, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
The Ministry of Public Administration welcomes this approach as it provides an ideal platform to showcase the role technology will play in empowering citizens, developing competitive businesses and creating transformational governments. This vision, outlined in the ICT Blueprint – National ICT Plan 2018-2022, articulates the fundamental role ICT will play as an enabler of development. As host country for CTU, Trinidad and Tobago is eager to showcase how our national development will help lead the digital transformation across the region.
