« Surfing the Seine is great and big, but surfing behind the Eiffel Tower is even more special“, declared the 22-year-old Tahitian.

Sitting behind a boat that created a small wave at its stern, Waster had a unique moment as he waved his gold medal in front of photographers. Organisers took advantage of the 10km open water race to create wave conditions on the Seine between races.

« I’m glad I got to do this at least once in my life.“He was delighted after his four golden days of conquering the other side of the world.

« It always warms my heart to see those who were there and encouraged me because it’s still fun to cross the Seine and catch a few waves behind the boat“, he smiled.

The Te Hupoo surfer is the first Polynesian to be crowned an Olympic champion in the sport’s history and this season he hopes to join the world tour and become one of surfing’s elite professionals.
