Smokey Bear celebrated his birthday with a special event outside the Guam Museum in Agana on Thursday. More than 100 community members came out to celebrate 80 years of wildfire prevention and learn about native trees at the Guam Department of Agriculture’s Forestry and Soil Resources Division outreach event. “The highlight of the evening was when we presented four amazing community members with the Smokey Bear Award for ‘Outstanding Contributions to Fire Prevention and Smokey Bear Projects,’” said Christine Camacho Fejeran, Director of the Forestry Department. Smokey Bear reminded the community, “Only you can prevent wildfires.”
