The Commercial Port of Lobito received yesterday (Thursday, 8) the ISO Standards 9001-2015, 14001-2015 and 45001-2018 Integrated Quality Management System Certification. The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Celso Rosas, highlighted what he called a milestone for the company, pledging to comply with the recommendations made in the certification report.
The port manager sees the certification as an incentive for the company to continue providing increasingly efficient services, while he calls on other managers, especially those of listed companies, to follow the example of the Lobito Port Commercial Company.
For the person in charge, this fact demonstrates his team’s commitment to fundamental areas such as quality, environment, health and work management, this time in the context of “excellence”.
With this distinction from the Nigerian company EMS Certification, the Port of Lobito hopes to fulfill its commitment to provide services at a high level of international quality, always focusing on the customer and enthusiastically fulfilling its mission as the owner of the port.
“In order for the Port of Lobito to gain a competitive advantage in the market, we also hope that this certification will open doors for commercial growth and allow us to be seen by the world as an international reference institution,” said Celso Rosas.
However, the official pointed out that the certification report showed that the company had found some minor non-conformities, so it was recommended to strengthen training actions to eliminate these non-conformities.
“We will continue to work hard on everything and train ourselves to consolidate the automation required by the management system integrated with ISO 9001, 140001 and 45001 standards until the end of this year”, the public manager promised.
Celso Rosas is therefore aware that they do not face a simple challenge thanks to the certification, but he says that the community of Lobito has been called and has the confidence to commit, “and that, in the first follow-up audit, the auditors, who are here when they return, will no longer have to report any minor or serious irregularities in their reports”, he assures.
Therefore, port managers take on everything so that terminal operators can provide services that meet and therefore exceed customer expectations, emphasizing that certification guarantees, to a certain extent, the efficiency of the processes and the desire for continuous improvement.
He stressed that “the ISO 14001 environmental standard recognizes our responsibility, which is why we are committed to minimizing our impact on the environment”, which also demonstrates the commitment of the Commercial Company of the Port of Lobito to adopt sustainable practices that promote environmental protection in all company operations.
In turn, Nken Jonathan, a Nigerian from EMS Certification, said processes at the Lobito Commercial Port had improved, leading to the company receiving ISO quality system certification.
Jonathan praised Porto’s commitment to following EMS’s initial recommendations, acknowledging that, “As of today, they have global certification.
Welcome to the global village and the certification company”, he hopes that, despite the huge challenges, “everything will improve”
