- A suspected firearms training facility has been discovered on a farm in Modimolle, Limpopo.
- Hawkish sources said the purpose of the training was unclear, but did not rule out military-related training.
- Two weeks ago, police discovered a suspected military training base in White River, Mpumalanga.
Police found a cache of guns and ammunition on a farm in Modimolle, Limpopo province, on Thursday and are investigating whether military-related training was taking place at the farm.
“The purpose of the training is not clear, but military-related training cannot be ruled out,” said Falcons spokesman Warrant Officer Letunya Mmuroa.

Following intelligence, the Falcons team worked with public order police, the local crime record centre and the Tactical Response Team to carry out a sting operation at the farm.
Mmuroa said the team seized several licensed rifles, a pistol and ammunition.
“The manner in which the guns and ammunition ended up on the farm is still under investigation. No one has been arrested so far,” Mmuroya added.

Two weeks ago, police discovered a suspected military training base in White River, Mpumalanga Province.
This week, the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (Psira) discovered that the military-style camp, 95 Libyan nationals are being trainedwhich is an illegal business operation.
Psira chief executive Manabela Chauke said at a news conference that the owner of Milites Dei Security Services (MDSS) in White River had been sent a letter of suspension.

Chauke added that Psira’s investigation led authorities to discover a second training facility, 7.5 kilometers away from the certified training facility. He said the training program and duration at the second facility were longer than the normal certified safety training.
He added that these training standards were borrowed from other countries.
“The second training facility is the so-called illegal Libyan military training camp. The investigation found that the authorities never recognized the Libyan military training camp,” said Chok.

The 95 Libyan citizens appeared in the Baihe District Court on Monday on charges of violating immigration laws and making false statements in visa applications.
They allegedly applied for study visas under section 13 of the Immigration Act and are believed to have been in South Africa since April.
The Home Office has since revoked their visas.
They are expected to appear in court again on August 26.
