Association agreements and government actions

The debate on whether there should be early elections after the referendum on the withdrawal agreement, regardless of the final result, or whether the legislature should be exhausted and thus held at the end of the elections, opened a new chapter yesterday, and this time it was initiated by the executive branch itself. Despite the position taken by the president, the heads of the economic, labor and housing departments in a radio interview in the morning, in favor of holding elections “immediately” after the adoption of the referendum, in order to form a new government and a new General Council. “Developing all this”, at noon, during his traditional summer visit to the young people of Aina, the head of the government considered it too early to declare whether the elections should be pushed forward after the referendum, while insisting on the need to separate the results of the consultations from the “vicissitudes of daily and domestic politics”. In fact, the government wants to avoid at all costs that the Brexit referendum becomes a referendum on the policies pursued by the Democratic Party in recent years. Although the poor communication policy to explain the coalition agreement to the public and the lack of joint action by those who support it are certainly more disturbing, the agreement with Europe is, or should be, a national project that transcends one or another government, and that future executives, regardless of their skin color, and that will obviously eventually be approved, must develop and work to make use of it.
