Teachers in Manitoba have embraced a deal that is the first of its kind in the province.
New collective agreements cover all 37 English-speaking countries School Previously, each division was traded separately.
95% of teachers voted in favor of the agreement, which will increase teacher salaries by more than 12% over four years.

Sandy Nemeth, president of the Manitoba School Boards Association, said the new deal puts more financial pressure on departments.
“School boards across the province have been very forthcoming and open with government about the need for funding to keep pace with the expenses that school boards are working to address, and that extends to the new funding model that is currently being discussed.”
Nemeth said the deal was about more than just money.
“We do everything we can to demonstrate and speak out loud about the importance of all our staff and we want them to feel valued and respected and feel safe in school.”
The new agreement will be retroactive to July 2022.
