The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, claims that neither the investigations of the Ministry of Health Control Body nor the College of Physicians revealed that medical staff of the ATI at the Bucharest “San Pantelimon” Hospital had intentionally killed anyone.
“We asked the Bucharest Faculty of Physicians to send a representative and they sent a professional team. At the same time, that same day, I spoke with the Socea manager and submitted a report to the prosecutor’s office. Once the control body had completed its task, the Faculty of Medicine’s investigation followed, and I think it took about two weeks to evaluate. At the end of this period, they issued a report that contained nothing that indicated the existence of facts that endangered the lives of patients.
Yesterday morning, the prosecutor’s office issued a press release mentioning that four medical staff were targeted. I spoke to the hospital’s manager and it was clear that there was a state of tension that led to mistrust in the provision of health care. The medical director has resigned and the manager will also resign because we cannot leave an important emergency hospital in Bucharest without management,” said Alexandru Rafira.
