Government Senator Abka Fitz-Henley said Culture, Sports and Recreation Minister Olivia Grange had been taken to hospital and placed in the intensive care unit (ICU) as a precautionary measure.
Fitz-Henry, who was authorized to respond to media inquiries on Grange’s behalf, said Grange is expected to be discharged from the intensive care unit soon.
He said: “She has been actively following developments in events, including the Olympics currently underway in Paris, and was delighted that Rashid Broadbear was able to win a medal for Jamaica today in the 110m hurdles.”
Fitz-Henry also said Grange specifically asked him to express her gratitude for the efforts of Hansler Pachment and Orlando Bennett, who were also competing in Paris.
He said: “Minister Grange thanks all the well wishes and wishes him a speedy recovery.”
Grange missed Tuesday’s Independence Day celebrations due to illness.
