2017 Hibiscus Teen Queen Roselyn Clair Sidal will once again take to the stage at the 68th annual Hibiscus Festival, this time competing in the prestigious Queens Competition.
Siddal has left an indelible mark in previous entries and this year she is honoured to be sponsored by Island Accommodation, a warm and cosy accommodation option in the heart of Suva.
The 23-year-old studied at Bhavani Dayal Arya College and was completing her bachelor’s degree in social work and journalism.
Her academic pursuits are closely tied to her passion for public advocacy and community service.
She has been a participant in the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement Girls Programme since 2013 and remains committed to the programme and actively promotes equality through her academic work and other means.
Not only is Siddal an advocate for social causes, she is also passionate about sports and is committed to empowering women and girls in sports to ensure they have an equal playing field.
She is a member of several sports teams including the Suva Senior Women’s Football Team, the Nasinu Netball Team and the Northland Tailevu Women’s Futsal Team.
Her cultural contributions are equally noteworthy.
Siddal celebrates her Fijian heritage and South Indian roots through song and dance, and enriches the cultural heritage of her community.
Roselyn has big ambitions to set up her own NGO dedicated to using the creative arts for advocacy.
She believes in the power of creative expression to voice community concerns, share powerful stories, and drive social change.
