Libreville, Thursday, August 8, 2024 (Gabon News) – General Brice Clotel Origi Nguema handed over on Wednesday in Libreville the supplies, which include tactical armored vehicles, ambulances and troop transporters, handcuffs, batons and 2 helicopters, mainly for border posts.
Determined to significantly improve the defense tools of the Gabonese armed forces, the head of state handed over on Wednesday additional logistical and tactical equipment to the National Defense and Defense Security Forces (MSDS) at Captain Charles Njoré camp.
The vehicles include 149 tactical armored vehicles, ambulances and troop transport vehicles, 1,000 handcuffs, 1,000 batons and 2 helicopters, which will be mainly used at border posts across the country and distributed in different defense and security departments.
The grant also covers various fire stations recently rehabilitated and constructed in capital cities, which receive ambulances and fire engines.
“1 truck from the Republican Guard, 2 trucks and 1 ambulance from the Oyem barracks, 2 trucks and 1 ambulance from the Franceville barracks, 1 truck and 1 ambulance from the Port-Gentil barracks, 1 truck from the Nzeng Ayong barracks, 1 truck from the Bikélé barracks, 2 trucks and 1 ambulance from the Makokou barracks, 1 truck and 1 ambulance from the Pont Nomba barracks, 1 truck from the Béssieux barracks, 9 ambulances from the Military Health Service, 1 ambulance from the Prison Security Service”.
The ceremony also saw the awarding of the Order of the Black Panther to civilians, the National Police Force Commendation Medal to military personnel, and the formal handing over of the machine keys to the Commander-in-Chief of each corps by the head of state.
On November 4, 2023, at Air Base 01, the Transitional President reiterated the need for the National Defense Forces to be equipped with the right tools and equipment.
Recall that the equipment was delivered by China North Industries Corporation (Norinco), a Chinese public defense company that produces commercial and military products and specializes in the sale of tanks, armored vehicles, artillery, weapons and equipment for the maintenance of order.
