The president of the Tahiti Voua Federation said it was an “exceptional” result. “Polynesia is very happy to get these 40 medals and return to the first place, and I hope we can stay in this place for ten years.”
In the juniors category, Faanui won gold and OPT silver. Paddling Connection rowers won the 40m masters title. Raiatea won bronze.
In the Junior Girls, EDT va’a finished third and on the podium. In the Cadets, Faanui became world champion before EDT va’a.
In the Women’s 40 Masters, Varurea Va’a took first place. In the Men’s 50 Masters, Paddling won the gold medal and Raiatia won the bronze medal.
Finally, in the Cadets, EDT va’a won the gold medal. The last competition was the men’s open, won by Matea (gold) and Bora Bora (silver).
Tahiti won a total of 73 medals. Hawaii came in second. Next were New Zealand, Canada, France, Australia, Brazil and Germany.
