Domingo Hernández Lárez, strategic operations commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), reported on Tuesday that Venezuelan soldiers destroyed 50 structures used for illegal mining in the states of Amazonas and Bolivar, two states in the south bordering Brazil and Colombia.

He added: “Under the Venezuelan territorial legal system, mining activities are prohibited in national parks and forest reserves, in addition to the prohibition of the construction of facilities and human presence not under the control of the Ministry of Ecosocialism (Environment) and Water.”
Hernandez Larez shared photos of the operation but did not specify if there were any detainees.
On Monday, officials reported the arrest of four people at an “illegal mining” camp in Amazonas state.
He said there are 17 water pumps and six four-inch turbines per inch.
In the first four months of this year, authorities expelled more than 10,000 people for illegal mining in Venezuela’s Amazon, Amazonas and Bolivar regional states, according to official data.
