40,000 people perform Eid al-Adha prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Yesterday, 40,000 worshippers performed Eid al-Adha prayers at the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite restrictions and attacks by the occupation forces on worshippers. Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that yesterday morning, the occupation forces attacked worshippers going to and leaving the Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevented dozens of people from entering for Eid al-Fitr prayers.
The Jerusalem Islamic Endowment Department announced that about 40,000 believers performed Eid prayers, and thousands of people were unable to enter due to the strict blockade of believers. In the early hours of the morning, the occupation forces stormed into the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, checked the identities of believers inside, hindered the movement of believers, and prevented a large number of young people from entering, causing them to pray outside the mosque. door. Yesterday, eight thousand believers performed Eid prayers in the Ibrahimi Mosque, given the restrictions and occupation barriers imposed on the mosque and its surroundings. The director of the Hebron Endowment Fund stated that despite the restrictions imposed by the occupation, thousands of people came to the Ibrahimi Mosque and its outer courtyard to perform Eid prayers.
He explained that the occupation forces had stepped up their presence at checkpoints near the mosque, at its gate and in its surroundings, checking citizens’ identity cards and conducting body searches on some of them.
Since 1994, the Israeli occupiers have divided the Ibrahimi Mosque, which is 63% Jewish and 37% Muslim, because a colonist shot worshippers during Ramadan that year, resulting in the martyrdom of a Muslim. 29 Palestinians.
During the occupation, the mosque was fully open to Muslims only 10 days a year, namely Fridays in Ramadan, the evening of the 27th of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers, the commemoration of Ramadan, the nights of Isra and Miraj, the birthday of the Prophet and the Islamic New Year.
