The Police Service of Northern Ireland evacuated a number of homes today as it continued its clean-up operation following the discovery of a suspected Second World War bomb in County Down.
A police cordon remained in place in Newtownards this afternoon and the clean-up operation is expected to continue for several days.
The ongoing public safety operation is targeting the Rivenwood area of Newtownards, with more than 400 homes affected by the operation.
This is a significant number of properties and the Police Service of Northern Ireland thanks residents for their patience and understanding.
Police also expect the operation to last several days at this stage.
Police have set up a cordon and are advising drivers to continue to avoid the area.
