Today, the 36th session of the Arab Parliamentary Union was launched in Algiers, the capital of Algeria, with the participation of the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, the President of the Consultative Council and the Head of the Kingdom’s Parliament. The work of the conference began with the presence and participation of the heads of parliaments and councils, heads of delegations, and some regional and international organizations and institutions, in the presence of the delegation of Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh. Mohsen Mandaravi, Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Iraq and President of the previous 35th session of the Arab Parliamentary Union, delivered a speech, expressing the hope for more success, cooperation and development of constructive communication between the Arab Council and Parliament, and reaching agreement on key issues and addressing challenges. Ibrahim Bougli, the 36th Session of the Arab Parliamentary Union, welcomed the heads of parliaments and councils, heads of delegations and observers attending the conference, and expressed in his speech the hope that the conference will be a complete success. The conference will be successful and produce results that meet the wishes of Arab leaders and the aspirations of the Arab people, emphasizing that the convening of this conference is a good opportunity to resume the joint work of parliaments in the service of international peace and security.
Afterwards, the Council and Parliament heads reviewed the agenda items of the meeting, and the various committees began their sessions, which will also discuss the current developments in the Arab region, as well as the reorganization of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Arab Union.
The Kingdom’s delegation was led by His Excellency the Speaker of the Consultative Council and included Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Asiri, member of the Arab Parliamentary Union Council and Executive Committee, Issa bin Mohammed Al-Issa, member of the Council, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya, member of the Council, and some parliamentary employees.
