A three-year-old boy fell into a swimming pool and drowned on Saturday.
Police said the accident happened at 4.15pm in Triq il-Kortoll, Xagħra province, Gozo.
Police immediately rushed to the scene and found that the boy had fallen into the residential swimming pool and was in trouble.
The first police officers to arrive at the scene gave the boy first aid. Later, a medical team also arrived at the scene, rescued the toddler and sent him to Gozo General Hospital.
The boy died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Magistrate Dr Bridget Sultana was appointed to lead the magistrates’ investigation.
The police are currently investigating.
