The 29th Shanghai TV Festival opened on June 24 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center and will last until June 28, with a variety of programs prepared for industry insiders and TV fans.
Since its establishment in 1986, the Asian Television Festival has developed into one of the most important international television exchange platforms in Asia and an influential cultural brand.
This year’s Magnolia Awards received nearly a thousand entries from 57 countries and regions on five continents.
In terms of drama TV series, there are about 190 Chinese TV series, while the number of foreign TV series has increased from nearly 110 in the previous session to nearly 170, an increase of 53.7%.
In the documentary and animation units, where both domestic and foreign works coexist, the number of entries has increased significantly, and the proportion of foreign works has increased year by year. This year, foreign works account for 60% of all entries in the documentary unit.
Chinese director Yan Jiangang, chairman of the drama unit jury, said that the nominated works reflect the diverse history, culture and social life around the world and are impressive.
Veteran Indian director and producer Vikram Channa will chair the jury for the documentary section, while French animation producer Frédéric Puech will chair the jury for the animation section.
On June 28, the Magnolia Awards ceremony will be held at the Lingang Performing Arts Center.
During the film festival, high-quality domestic and foreign programs will be showcased through television platforms, streaming platforms, offline screenings, and other forms.
This year’s offline screenings will be open to the public in 20 art venues including the China Art Museum, Shanghai Museum of Power Station of Art, Shanghai Book City, and Shanghai Library East Building.
Shortlisted works and recent outstanding works will be exhibited, including Italian TV series “The Camorrist”, British series “Inside No.9” and BBC documentary “Planet Earth Season 3”.
This year’s festival will also focus on the significant growth of online creations by hosting the Shanghai Micro Drama Conference and special forums.
Explore in-depth cross-border integration with cultural tourism and promote cultural consumption.
The event will also explore technological innovation and industrial revitalization.
This time, STVFORUM will focus on future trends in the field of broadcasting and television, as well as the rapid development and application of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial BroadCast Unitedligence-generated content.
