Rushawn Smith, 22, was charged after he allegedly attacked and robbed a woman at the intersection of Lockett and Kensington avenues in Kingston.

The Kingston resident was charged with aggravated robbery and assault with intent to commit battery.

Kingston Central Police said Smith used a machete to slash a woman’s left hand around 7:30 a.m., causing her to bleed.

He then snatched a bag she was carrying.

Police were alerted and swung into action at the premises where Smith was found, arrested him and subsequently charged him.

A court date is currently being scheduled.
