The Electoral Commission announced that 40 candidates have deposited their securities for the upcoming presidential election.

Nominations will be accepted from 9am to 11am tomorrow (August 15).

Individuals will have the opportunity to file objections between 9:00 am and 11:30 am.

Meanwhile, acting police media spokesperson, DIG Ruwan Gunasekara confirmed that a special security and traffic plan will be implemented around the Rajagiriya Election Commission tomorrow.

Earlier today, bonds were also issued for Janaka Ratnayake’s candidacy in the presidential election.

The former chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) is contesting as a candidate of the United People’s Party of Sri Lanka.

Party secretary Nihal Premakumara Deshapriya has deposited the security deposit with the Election Commission on behalf of Janaka Ratnayake this morning (August 14).

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka People’s Front candidate Namal Rajapaksa and National Democratic Front candidate Dr Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe today signed their nomination papers to contest the upcoming presidential elections.
