Contestants of the 2024 Miss Solomon Islands Pageant (MSIP) took part in a float parade in Honiara today in preparation for the coronation night tomorrow.

Six contestants, including the reigning Miss Solomon Islands, took part in the float parade which started at the Crown Pacific Hotel and ended at the National Auditorium where the public had the opportunity to meet the contestants.

Contestants proudly displayed floats featuring sponsors and advocacy issues.

This year’s pageant will see contestants compete in six categories.

Earlier today, they competed in MSIP’s first category, the pre-pageant speaking competition.

Their speeches were based on themes selected at the first press conference held last month.

At the awards show tomorrow, contestants will compete in five more categories, namely introductions, sarongs, talent, contemporary/traditional costumes and stage quiz categories.

Speaking to SIBC News, Lynette Adomea, Event Manager of MSIP 2024, said they are preparing for tomorrow’s event.

“With every big event, we anticipate some unforeseen circumstances; but as a team, we are well prepared and all preparations are going according to plan. We will have our final rehearsal with the girls and the cast tonight.”

“We encourage the public, especially those who have purchased tickets, to arrive before 7pm as gates will open at 4:30pm. We are looking forward to tomorrow’s event, to crowning the new Miss Solomon Islands and to celebrating our six beautiful contestants.”

The six contestants vying for the 2024 MSIP crown are Ezinma Kausua (Miss Guadalcanal), Kerrie Faradatolo (Miss Tourism), Sharllyma Aruhane (Miss Coral Sea Resort and Casino), Elsie Polosovai (Miss Lauru), Azarinna Zolela Stevens (Miss SICAN) and Jayn Zayniellar Soakai (Miss Tulagi).
