In Vailu, the situation improved earlier this week after high tensions on Saturday night and Sunday morning. An investigation by municipal staff revealed that eight ballot boxes and voting equipment used for the first round of legislative elections disappeared from the city hall on Monday.

On the morning of Monday, July 1, workers who went to the Wailu Town Hall discovered that the ballot boxes, eight of which were equipped with voting equipment for the first round of legislative elections, were no longer there. The burglary occurred after someone broke into City Hall overnight Saturday into Sunday.

Some municipal workers were only able to enter the town hall this Monday morning. The streets are always covered with garbage and numerous obstacles. A town hall vehicle carrying municipal workers was driving on the road and was stoned by a group of people. As far as we know, he was not injured.

It is worth reminding that tensions in the town were heightened on Saturday night. The gendarmerie brigade was attacked by a ramming car during the night, and the access to the town hall was blocked by a car wreck, a concrete block and tree branches. The road to the village was also blocked. As a result, residents could not go to the polls.

Also note that the cottage in front of the town hall was destroyed by a fire this weekend.

The town’s municipal services remain closed on Monday, but staff assured they are doing everything possible to restore them as soon as possible, perhaps tomorrow, Tuesday, in a degraded mode.
