2024 Commander’s Cup Regatta kicks off in Trincomalee

The Commander’s Cup Regatta-2024, which is being held for the fourth time by the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) Trincomalee, kicked off at Commander Shanthi Bahar Memorial Sailing Club on August 18, 2024. At the invitation of Commodore Rohan Joseph, Commander, NMA, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, Commander, Eastern Naval Area, graced the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest.

The regatta was organized under the instructions of Navy Commander Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera and saw the participation of 22 officers and cadets from the Naval Academy of China, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with the support of the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka (YASL).

The competition will be held in the stunning waters of Sandy Bay, Trincomalee from 19th to 21st August. The event will showcase the strong friendship and sportsmanship among the participating countries and provide a thrilling experience for the spectators. It is also a great opportunity to attract tourists to visit the country for water sports.
