Over the next year, approximately 200 local educators will benefit from financial literacy training.

Profit Jumpstarter Academy has partnered with the Ministry of Education to implement the program and will deliver classes online.

Keisha Bailey, CEO of Profit Jumpstarter, said the entity will work with the Ministry of Education to provide 31 million Jamaican dollars in scholarships to educators.

“(This will) ensure that educators learn how to build wealth so they can teach students; they can also help parents, and by doing that, we can build a better Jamaica. That’s how we build a better world.”

Education Minister Fayval Williams said the training was in line with the department’s plans to expand financial education in schools.

“I am committed to embedding broader financial literacy education into our school’s curriculum to ensure every student has the opportunity to develop these critical skills. It is not enough to excel academically, our students must also be equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate financial environments confidently and competently,” she stressed.

They both spoke at Profit Jumpstarter’s Wealth Building Conference on Friday.
