16th General Election: KJ predicts Zahid will be appointed as 11th Prime Minister

He said according to predictions, the deputy prime minister post will be taken up by Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

(Singuang Daily) – Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin claimed that there were predictions that Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would become the 11th prime minister if Umno joined hands with Pakatan Harapan (PH) and took control of the government after the 16th general election (GE16).

Khairy said based on a prediction by Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajidi Dusuki, the deputy prime minister post is expected to go to Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is currently the 10th prime minister.

He said the assumption was based on the possibility that the number of seats won by the BN-PH coalition followed the 1, 1 formula.

“According to this formula, the number of seats that Barisan Nasional-Pakatan Harapan won in GE16 under the 1,1 formula is 182 out of 222 seats.

“The most interesting thing is that PKR won 41 seats, DAP won 40 seats and UMNO won 49 seats.

“This means Zahid will become prime minister and Anwar will become deputy prime minister,” he said yesterday on the “Keluar Sekejap” podcast with former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan.

Khairy also claimed that UMNO projected that they would win 49 parliamentary seats in the 16th general election, an increase from the 26 previously.

He said UMNO was also actively conducting tours to soften the party’s grassroots into accepting the idea that with the cooperation of Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, UMNO could return to the government after the 16th general election.

“One of the (Umno) tours is going on right now and Asyraf Wajidi is doing a projection which is in the form of slides and I am looking at those slides.

“He increased the number of additional seats (held by BN and Pakatan Harapan). So if BN and Pakatan Harapan work together, this assumption means the number of seats will increase.

“But he said the additional seats that BN and Pakatan Harapan can win are 34. I think he is using the 1, 1 formula,” Khairy said.
